The opening of the activities of a training program under the umbrella of the AWARE initiative at the African Center for Water and Climate Adaptation (PACWA), entitled
 "Hydrology, hydraulic modeling and water quality"

Within the framework of the effective role of the Training Center in cooperation with relevant authorities and organizations, and in light of cooperation with the Nile Water Affairs Sector and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership (EAPD), Mr. Engineer/ Tariq Al-Sayed, Head of the Training Center, and Mr. Dr./ Arif Gharib, Head of the Nile Water Affairs Sector...today, the opening of the activities of a training program under the umbrella of the AWARE initiative at the African Center for Water and Climate Adaptation (PACWA), entitled
 "Hydrology, hydraulic modeling and water quality"
It is scheduled to be held during the period February 11 to 22, 2024, for 19 trainees
(15 from the Democratic Republic of the Congo + 2 from the Nile Water Affairs Sector + 2 from the High Dam Authority)
The program aimed to provide participants with the necessary skills to use hydrological modeling programs and early warning systems and water quality.
 The training is conducted by a group of Egyptian experts from Cairo University, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the Water Resources Research Institute, the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, and the General Authority of Meteorology.

H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, attended a ceremony honoring 15 Congolese trainees who completed a training program at the African Center for Water and Climate Adaptation. H.E highlighted the strong historical relations between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to support the African nations. Prof. Sewilam expressed eagerness to enhance cooperation with the Congolese Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development to bolster water collaboration between both nations.

During the ceremony, Prof. Sewilam awarded certificates to the African trainees and emphasized the significance of their technical expertise in addressing water-related challenges in Africa. H.E. highlighted Egypt's role in inaugurating the African Center for Water and Climate Adaptation, aimed at supporting African countries in mitigating climate change impacts. Furthermore, collaborative efforts are underway to develop early warning systems to help African nations better manage floods and droughts.

Ambassador Kasengo Musenga conveyed gratitude from Congo's political leadership to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for Egypt's support. Trainees expressed appreciation for the hospitality and technical capabilities of the center, acknowledging the valuable experiences gained during the training program. Held under the AWARe initiative, the program equipped participants with essential skills in hydrology, hydraulic modeling, and water quality management, facilitated by Egyptian experts from various institutions.
